great model

i think the knee and elbow joints would look good if u bend them a little ..
that'll also help in animation ..

the pelvis area doesn't give a feel likeit would b able to support the torso..(visually speaking).. make it more bulky may b

liked the way simple elements have been used to get the final results

great going

waitin to see how it animates

regards

I'm going to rip you a new one here. if you dont want a real crit (or rather a load of my personal opinion) then skip this post.

You have a lot of really useless and un-motivated details, most of which are very rounded and un-mechanical (rather very sub-d).

The heads kinda cool, but why the thing in the back of it that sticks out. Why the row of indented rectangles down the center?

The blue shoulder plate limits his arm movements: he cant even point them straight forward. Additionally why the rows of bars in the front? Is this a cooling vent? If so they are wide enough spaced to let anything short of a human head in. When it transitions to the hips is there a place for rotation or is it a unibody (i have a dark monitor not everything is showing up). If its unibody then that is severly limiting in range of movement. Even then there is no way for him to bend over other than rotating around the leg hip joints.

The elbows: having a hard time telling where they are. I assume they are at the end of the upper arm because if they arent then there is no way for them to bend.

Hands: really thin, not very humanoid, and in comparison to the palm could use some bulking up for greater flexibility or strength.

Legs: more useless details, simply primitive based shapes. The calf is another useless shape. Unless there is a reason for having that bulge in the back imitating human muscle placement, then it shouldnt be there.

I guess the biggest thing that i can say about this is that you tried to make a rather simply concept look robotish by adding tons of "mechanical looking" details. But the basic structures for movement: joints, hydraulics or whatever system of movement you have going is missing, and basic efficiency/or aesthetic doesnt seem to have been design factors. Robots are machines, they are designed by engineers. Before anything comes functionality. Only once that has been met can a product designer at his touches to make that lump of fuctionality palatable to human tastes. At the moment, there seem to be only a few schools of artistic robot thought: uber technical with wires and hydraulics all over the place, or sleek form based casings hiding the cruder functional parts.

So i'm going to recommend rethinking your concept. Why are things there. What do they do. Do they interfere with any other function. If they do nothing, they shouldnt be there. This isnt to say you actually need to blueprint the robots internal structure, but you do need to give it thought.

Hi !
thx for the answers
:buttrock:
@ goon My english ist not really good...but i think i really understand what u mean. You are right with your criticism (or whatever the word is:shrug: ) abouth the functionalty of my robot. Perhaps "robot" is the wrong word for my charackter.
I really have not spend a lot of time in planing my charackter....maybe i will do next time.
I have seen my first 3d software before 2 years an never thought that i would be able to create a charackter like the one i have done. I have created this one nearly only with the aspect oft design and not with the aspect of functionality.
Iam not able do to do any nice pencil drawings.... because i draw like a...hmmm... like a cow. :applause: .

Next time i will try to develop my charackter from zero to the end and not start at 50 %. :shame:

Greetings
Steel
