Been a while since I've posted any completed work :)

This project has been in the back of my mind for a while now, so I sat down 3 days ago and started it. It's a tribute to the '74 Jazz Bass played by my favourite bassist, Marcus Miller.

Fender have subsequently released an artist "signature" model based on it, but this is my attempt to recreate the configuration of Marcus's actual instrument.

I've tried to give it a "used" but "cared for" look, there are some issues with the body material in that the grain is probably deeper than it should be, but I like it like this :)

I'll post wires and other shots if people want to see them, but I'd appreciate comments and crits!

Yeah! Nice one!
I play bass myself! And I can tell that I just wan't to pick that guitar up and play some :D
The only thing is that the neck look like it is new. It's just my opinion but you should maybe make the neck look like it's more used?

Anyway good work!

Thanks V much, glad you dig it :)

Good point about the neck, I'll post a render of the neck and headstock later to show some more detail.....it's pretty light-coloured wood which makes it look too new I guess.

Thanks :)

Yeah I met him and Victor Bailey at a bass workshop they held during the jazz festival. Got 'em to sign all my CD's and stuff, and it was such a treat seeing them take requests from the audience and jam on old Weather Report and Miles Davis tunes.......amazing :D

it looks great man, but i think the bumpmap on the body is a lil too high, it looks very rough, id expect a guitar to have a fine, well polished finish. :)

Thanks for the reply, and good point, the bump probably was too intense. I've updated the image with a toned down wood grain. Think it's an improvement....

You're right in that most guitars have a polished finish....I just prefer the more natural look tho :)
