How is every one? I have a small problem that hopefully the image below will describe.

http://www.tidycomputer.co.uk/images/Dans/aimConstraint.jpg

My arm is aim constrained to the locator but when the locator is moved the arm distorts and becomes miss shaped rather than rotate around the axis. Any one have any ideas as to what the problem is? I've put up the scene for any one willing to have a look. Thank you all for any replies.

Hi..!
Make sure that you use the settings of aim constraint properly... like te aim axis is negative Y , Up vector is secne up... etc

Thanks for the quick reply but unfortunately still the same issue. Aim constraints confuse the hell out of me. I will be most great full if some one can help me out on this issue.

Thanks once again

Hi,

If you can repost a .ma version of the file that'd be great. Using 8.5 at work, can't view the file at the mo.

Here is a .ma file (http://www.tidycomputer.co.uk/images/Dans/Robot.ma.zip), hope you can get it.

Nice one for having a look at it.

Hey,

Looks like the arm geometry is shearing because it's parent has non-uniform scale values.

Example

Here's the fix. (http://www.4shared.com/file/113407994/e1e49020/Robot.html) If you're not too clued up on aim constraints, take a look on the web for free tutorials.

Here's one. (http://www.vimeo.com/2538054)

Your an absolute star.

Watched the tutorial (thanks for that), starting to make more sense now. Got some nasty fliping on the shoulder but I think I need to add object up object to help fix this.
Thanks once again!

Cheers for now

Dan
