This was done for a monthly portrait challenge and as/for practice. Oops, forgot the details. This was done in Painter 11 using an Intuos 4 (which I'm loving). Approx 1600 x 1300 and I started with the oil brushes for the background but switched to Pastels for the portrait.

Loved the expression, i think that's one of the most difficult things to achieve.

I like the look of this so far-being an oil painter myself with little experience in pastels and even less doing the same on the computer, I think that you're going on the right track so far.

The comp seems well done, and the warm color scheme reminds me of several of my favorite artists.

I curious to know if you will be adding more contrasting colors to your painting at all?

Thanks for taking an look and for your input. Since this was primarily a practice painting done for a monthly challenge I don't really have plans to take it further, but will definitely keep the contrasting colors comment in mind for future work.

Much appreciated!
