Hi all,

I'm in the midst of 3D software shopping (Whooho!) One of the packages I am evaluating is Cinema. So far I'm impressed with R8, however last night I ran into a problem creating text. In fact when I try to change the font or change the text, the app just quits. I'm using the latest demo and my computer is as follows:
Dual 867 G4, 786mb ram, Geforce MX 400 video, OSX 10.2.6
Funny thing is, I also tried this on an older 400mhz G4, 384mb ram, OSX 10.2.6, and it works fine. So it must be something with my computer. Any ideas what I might do or check to correct this? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks
MLM

Corrupted font? Or a malformed font, I've known Windows get floored by that before now, not sure about a Mac.

what font are you using? make sure you pick postscript or truetype appropriately in the attribute manager--although i've never had an incorrect choice cause a quit--usually just doesn't show up.

Well, I can't even pick a different font. A default font is already there, and it looks like arial or something similar. I can change the radil buttons from postscript to truetype, but I can't choose a different font without the app crashing.
I think I will have to use a font utility to see if one of my fonts is corrupted. Any suggestions on a good font utility software? I have an older version of Suitcase that I need to upgrade for OSX, if that will do the trick.

Thanks!

Mike

i use suitcase myself, so no help there. the default font on the mac is helvetica trutype. any chance that's missing on your system-- i guess that might cause a crash (?)? it's installed by the system in system/library/fonts. you shouldn't ever mess with fonts installed there, but if you have...
