View Full Version : Rendering color vertex

Hi,

With the api I added color per face to a mesh (plane shape). The color includes alpha channel. In the editor.jpg it shows how I meant it to look.
I have trouble rendering it (front.jpg, back.jpg):

1. It disregards the alpha channel (it suppose to be half transparent).
2. The sphere and the box has their reflection on the plane for some reason.
3. Looking from the back I can't see the colors / baked texture.

I used mr mentalrayVertexColors.

I followed the standard tutorial:
"Render color per vertex in mental ray for Maya"

I solved 2,3:

2. Each object has a mental ray attributes section... It has reflection over there.

3. I didn't light the object from the back.

About 1, I think I understand the problem. I connected only the colors and I somehow needs to connect the transparency also. I'm not sure how to connect the mesh vertex data to mental ray transparency. It occurred to me that I might need to study mental ray, and find the right shader which does that.
