this might sounds really stupid but, please if you can, explain...im going to list a few steps, and someone post there steps as well :) THANX!!

1. Model
(I use CPS to model)

2. Delete History
(After I finish with CPS, while in the low poly mode, i delete history)

3. Apply Smooth Node
(I apply a smooth node, with 2 divisions)

4. Create QuickSets
(I adjust smooth node to 0 divisions and create my quick select sets such as, face, neck, etc...)

5. Apply UV Maps
(I change my smooth node back to 2 divisions, and apply UV maps)

* this is actually where i am having a problem. On a detailed model, with a smooth node set to 2 divisions, IT IS VERY HARD to adjust UVs in the UV TEX EDITIOR...I have tried to change my smooth node back to 0 divisions after applying the UVs, but the UVs fly all over the place and it looks like a digital abstraction of some sort.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GO STEP BY STEP DISCUSSING THEIR UVing TECHNIQUE INCLUDING THINGS SUCH AS; APPLY THE SMOOTH BEFORE OR AFTER LAYING OUT UVs. I MEAN STEP BY STEP....I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THIS, AND MAYBE, JUST MAYBE....WE CAN ALL FIGURE OUT THE MYSTERY OF THE DREADED UV.....

THANX EVERYONE!!

actually my workflow is similiar to yours. I would suggest that you layout your uvs on the low poly mesh, before you apply the smooth. Because CPS is a direct connection from low rez to hi rez your uvs will transfer from your low rez to your high rez. Its much easier to tweak the low density uvs than the high density.
