View Full Version : Cinema 4D plug-ins
snickrep 07-24-2003, 04:27 PM I am looking for a several plug-ins for Cinema 4D. It doesn't matter if is freeware,shareware,etc.
I am looking the following plug-ins:
A realistic water/wave creator
A cloud generator like skytracer featured in Lightwave.
A UV texturing tool other than BodyPaint 3D (Bodypaint 3D is a little expensive for me right now)

Water/waves =>
- Add the sea (http://www.motion-gimmick.com)
Sky generator=>
- SkyShader (maxon's plugin cafe)
- Ozone 2 for Cinema (http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Products/OzoneIndex.php)
UV texturing=>
-UV2BMP (no painting though) (http://www.r-j.de/c4d/uv_dt.htm)
I don't know how good/easy these plugins work. I haven't tested them.

For waves you can also use the Nickl deformer. Cidertank has a new and improved (and expensive) version, but last time I checked the freeware version was still available at Plugin Cafe.

Or you can use my VertexDeform for waves. Not as expensive as NICKL 2, but as powerful as NICKL and 16 other plugns in the package :)
But to be honest, I would choose Add-The-Sea.....YET! ;)

How about a head to head comparison utilizing users ( preferably as unbiased as we can find ). Time we find out if your tools are as good as you say ( I was reading a few of the German forums lately and found them quite inspiring! :thumbsup: ). No animosity here, just curiosity. What do you say Samir? A friendly test of tools, yes?

Sure, but we´re talking NICKL and VertexDeform right? No prob. If you find some users that will do the test :)

NICKLv1 or NICKLv2?
NICKLv1 is several years old.
NICKLv2 would be the only appropriate comparison.
Yes?

VertexDeform is about 1 year old. Compared to how long I am programming for Cinema 4D and to your programming time, it would surely be the same... ;) but...
NICKLv2 would be the only appropriate comparison.
Yes?
...sure. I am curious to see what your NICKL 2 can do in comparison to mine...but the one you are currently shipping. :D

make sure to keep it clean you two :) Would love to see what people come up with, I love nickl, and Samir's vertexderform woks great too been using both when I have fun and stuff, but I dont' do stuff where I really need them.
I'd be curious to see the results, I find both easy to use, I'm also still not 100% sure on all of the new features in Nickl 2, so would be curious to see what they do.

Hmm... Maybe we should move this to a new thread. Kai, I feel you would be very objective, would you consider be on e of the panel? Possibly a moderator? The idea of this is to get a good feel for what the tools do and how the users interpret them. If conducted objectively this could be very beneficial for everyone. I prefer clean bouts, no mud... :thumbsup:
After JENNAv2 is complete maybe there could be a feature and viability comparison with xFrog.
let's have fun!

on a side note when will it be done?
That's fair... :D
Just finishing GRIDARRAY and ALLIE builds right now ( the only reason I am not working is that the main two machines for coding are compiling right now ). They will be released as soon as I can get the archives prepared. I am doing the documentation for those next, then I am back to working hard on the new MESHARRAY ( quite an improvement if I do say so ). I have also contracted two new workers to create example files and improve the website so that I can remain focussed on J2 and then the subsequent LOCO. This should help to provide the resources users are looking for from cidertank. On a side note, cidertank forums are going up next week. They will be a resource arena for cidertank users more than open forums ( there are already several good ones out there... :) ). Also, all plugins have a greatly enhanced variation system that really helps out in created visual animated detail for motion graphics.

Good news about cidertank projects. :applause:
But this Plugin Shoot-Out sounds really interesting.

Sure I could help out with keeping an eye on the thread and such, as for actually testing the two plugins, I have barely laid a finger on the mouse with cinema in the last week and a half or so. :( Seems Two jobs, one of which is teaching keeps a guy extremely busy and lacking of more sleep then he thought possible.
Not to mention the fact that it takes me twice as long to do anything in max as it does in C4d. No bridge tool, come on what is with that, even meshtools had it.
