View Full Version : Rendering clouds to planes
JordanWalker 06-19-2009, 02:24 AM Is it possible to render out clouds to a flat image with no sky/atmosphere contribution? I'm interested in rendering them out to a horizontal plane as well as a vertical one. I have xstream so I can utilize 3dsmax if I need to.
Thanks.

...and set Infinite Planes to hide in alpha, in your render settings. Or delete/turn off your ground plane.

the multi-pass render has a cloud mask. Think it is only available in 7.5
You can use the render pass to create the alpha.
I would suggest turning off / down the aerial perspective if you are rendering from above. You can also hide the ground plane from render if you don't want it in the color pass. You can hide it from the alpha in the render options. Or you can try occluding it from the g-buffer.
