Does anyone use syflex?
first question is: is there any forum on the net that have discussion on using syflex?

i'm having a scene with multiples shots organized 1000 frame aprt each, and of course each shot the character would jump to the new position , ussually using stepped tangent.

my question is: one of my character has a syflex cloth on it. how shohuld i manage the simulation? i mean when i PIN and setup the cloth, there is only ONE original world-space transform of the cloth.
i have to start the simulation with the character at that position. it's alright for one shot. but how can i make them happen in multiple shot? what should i put in "start time" of the cloth node?

and for other shots, the start position of the chracter is totally different, if i try to moce the cloth mesh, it turns out the PINs and other setup doesn't change thier position and all calculation like pinning and collision will be wrong.

how can I solve the situation?

thanks for any advise

There are no syflex forums that I know of but if you email Syflex they will usually respond quite quickly.

As for the question you need to pre-roll the simulation which means the character should stand still (for about 100 frames) before any animation takes place so the cloth will be in the right state for the first frame of your animation. This is pretty much what you would do with any kind of dynamic simulation. You shouldn't move the pins or the cloth itself, if you just pre-roll the cloth for long enough it should sort itself out.

then does it means every simulation i can't do multiple shots in one maya file?

becus each shot it got its own initial state, and there is only one initial state for one node of ..say... cloth

what are the usual practices?

If the one scene has multiple shots and the character is in different positions for each shot you'll need to do multiple pre-rolls for the cloth. Another option is to save out one file for each shot and pre-roll at the beginning of each file.
