CGTalk - portal light without ibl

im using final gather cards to light my scene, will the portal light work with that, or does it need an ibl. it doesnt seem to be getting the color from the cards, just shooting out white

I'm assuming final gather cards are just surfaces that emit FG rays, if so then yes, the portal light should work as it's just an FG concentrator.
