While in Las Vegas, I visited the Swatch boutique and picked up this slick trinket. I thought the brushed finish was striking and i wanted to see if i could come close to duplicating it with Max raytraced materials and the scanline renderer. Your thoughts?

The metal looks very realistic, though a higher res picture might show it off better the brushed marks are a bit lost in the chunky pixels.

I don't see any evidence of glass over the dial, is it there?

@clanger - it's a very fine brushed finish, I don't think you'd see much in a larger render. The watch case is very thin and the crystal is flush with the top and flat. There's no convexity to catch any highlights - believe me I tried. I even modeled a slightly domed crystal to fake it, but it didn't look right.
