Talking Codename Bounty hunters
starting with ideas

Character story:

These codename Bounty hunters are freelancer agents working like a unofficial custody service. His targets...the worst kind of bad guys. The modus operandi always turns to be take the targets to the contractor, but sometimes, when things went wrong...the usual briefing is;

" Bring the target at any cost, cut that bullshit about dead or alive. don?t mind what?s your choice."

tools:Any kind of weapons , close combat , infiltrate tactics and special gadgets .

Im thinking about a scene with a downed guard and the couple of agents posing for a poster.

Are you still going for the agent-for-hire theme? If you do, you should add some more hints at the story. Right now i "just" see two cool guys, but i have no idea what they are doing or what they are standing for.

Anyway, its just an idea, so plz just dont pay any attention, if im talking crap :)

The main characters are sorrounding by a group of soldiers, but its not the final option:)
Maybe ill put the couple on action, dodging bullets and shooting one of the soldier on front of the camera. Im going to sketch this for a better view.

The dome can be a nice example for the structure,more sci fi, of course. Looking like an command post, the other buldings can be used for imagine the background:

Man, you my hero if you will use the hard expressions of Clint Eastwood. The man have 80 years and still can make shake your bones when he look at you haha. He is my idol, directing, acting, writing, composing and all what he do.

Going to model the characters and some elements for the environment...much more like 3d, but im going to use some mattepainting work to build it.
The characters is my primary aim.

Here comes some new stuff:

I made this pre-Viz just to know the spatial arrange and the position for the characters, also starting to think about the camera angle.Lot of details to think...im not sure about the dome size , and the big engine in the center is something like an giant magnetic reactor ..going to skecth the little technology stuff(computers and wires?).

I like the composition you made for the scene. My personal suggestion for camera angle will be a low angle shot, which always create mystery and excitement. The environment is more depend upon the time period means if its current time or future or little back, according to that. You may take inspiration from Halo Wars kind of games or movies.

Looking for more updates.

Deepam- Yeah! The camera angle should be lower indeed, poiting to the top of the magnetic reactor thing.;)
I m looking for inspiration on some games like Half life & uncharted for the look of the main characters & the technology style for the environment.I imagine the soldiers close to our time and reality, the gear need to look from our time but a little changed...like some years from now. Theyre gadgets are from a closer future as the agents too.

I think if you lower the camera and bring in the perspective a bit, so it feels like they are really surrounded, it would be much more dynamic. Loving everything I've seen so far.

Hey Thanks a lot , bro. The gun isnt too hard to model because its very geometric,but still adding some stuff...Ill take more time to model the other weapons theyre much more detailed. The soldier base mesh was preaty easy since i already have a bunch of base mesh modeled before, so i just need to thinking about the gear details such packs and armor.

man i like the idea of this scene a lot , but i think its not fair to put your main characters far away , i mean u will spend a lot of time working on them and we will barely see them that far, but well that just my point of view, im not really good on composition i guess so ..:D .

this is so difficult since the scene looks very cool, but man your characters!!..hahah dam ,

It's coming together nicely. Canvas needs a bit more space on the left to balance the composition. But, it's shaping up well. :)

EDIT -- Just seen the other stuff. Completely missed it. ( I tend to look at the first post). I like where this is going a lot. A lot of dynamism to it. I do wonder whether we may be a bit far from our protagonists though. I wonder whether bringing us in a bit would be an idea. It would still be possible to get the feeling of being hemmed in. Maybe even increase it.

My one and only crit is that you should bring the groin protector down a little more. Its too far up on your mesh to be of any real use to your soldier. Notice how far it comes down on this picture. It covers up all his "bits and pieces". You should adjust that just a little. Otherwise, great mesh and I can't wait to see the big finish.

Im staying only with the main characters and try a closer look, better to focus on them...the soldier could be ok, but i dont think ill be abble to made the 3 characters because time is a thing that i dont have at this moment:(
Starting the zbrush steps for the couple and heres what i have until now.
The soldier needs lots of retopology, so im going to leave him for last...and nevermind about the full environment, ill take aim on a base scenario for the characters stand maybe i use that to made the final mattepainting background.
The entry will not beeing a full scene, but i can focus on details.

The sculpting progress...changed the focus ...again. The female will surely be harder to make, because the most dificult thing is to made it look as a real hot&deadly woman can be not just a simple sexy character.smoother shapes and perfect edge loops...that`s my aim right now, but at work i need to wait for the room get clear, so nobody will check & bother me during my intervals.Heres the results for that free time:

wip for the male agent...still working on the textures and details, im almost finishing the soldier but the female agent is still on the base naked body.
I hope to have the full scene ready for the deadline :(

unfortunately ill have to maintain the focus for one agent,im afraid im no abble to finish the female agent. The guy will be the lone agent sorrounded by the troops(model these complex combat gears are freakin me out:eek:). The background will take too much time for the render and props, and the hair used on the character will certainly made the render time a painfull step...and of course, the weapons;)

I can feel for you... I was looking at your progress last week and I was thinking: "I should suggest to him to drop the girl."

But I didn't want to sound like I was assuming too much about what you could or could not accomplish.

It is safer you let go of the girl agent.
It's painful. We all loved her.

CGIPadawan- Thanks for the words , Man:) You can call me crazy, but right now im on two challenges(CGTalks Secret Agent & The Comiccon challenge) Both of them makes me want to work like a maniac. I have 1 month to made DOMINO from Xforce, but since i already have the agent done and the soldier(just need some details), i can spend more time on the environment and it will take lots of mattepainting techniques & texturing work. So...that will test my skills to the limit:buttrock:
The only problem, is my current hired job...its boring, and takes a very precious time from me...luckly im ending my part on that job next month:D and ill be plenty of time to this all.
Posting the soldier tomorrow...check it out.

I would have suggested you make just the girl!

You see, if you make her sexy, Asian (like in your concepts), and then you give her lots and lots of gear...You have a good secret agent.

You can then put face paint on her, change her hair.. and she doubles for Domino in the Comic-Con challenge.

Two for the price of one! :wise: Sheesh!

P.S.: Yes, I know that's kind of not in the "Spirit of the Rules".... but I was thinking it would have given you the best opportunity to make all the audience members happy. :P

But i promisse a good combat scene anyway, the reason to change the scene ambience is the better secret agent modus operandy..since hes a sneakin spec ops dude:)...The agent will be hidding from the troops looking for him...the environment is something like this:

A destroyed city sector , a wall maked by hundreds of bullet holes and the agent behind some debrits reloading his assalt rifle or infiltrating a lab or fortress coming out from shadows.

Also i changed the agent hair...the hair&fur sistem from max was getting me crazy...so , i cut that of and modeled a plane hair with alpha opacity, this will make the render lot easyer than using digital hair. The lightning and render with the right camera angle will have my full attention since i done the characters. Still makin some stuff on the Trooper:

Well good luck to you. I love "Children of Men" (a shame it never got the box office it deserved). But to pull off that "look" in 2 weeks? I hope you have a really good plan for this.

When I think of doing that.. I already think of "punching below the belt" (aka: High-res photo projections). hehehe.

The agent hair is okay, but I suggest UV-ing the polygon mesh for the hair and coming up with a hairstyle via texture maps. Right now, I think his hair is just done with basic material shaders?

It's too black... Like he had his hair dyed.

It can look more natural with texture maps and even pre-painted sheen, tone, and darkness. Try it. :)

Yeah man! Think the same about Children of men...and for the scene construction plans, high res images on a camera map, but im not sure about the environment. My hidden card is to put the characters on a action closeup, so the background can be done with mattepainting and a few modeled props. Wow!2 weeks:eek:!? I tought the deadline is for 10 september..but its ok...i think i can do it;)
For the plane hair,thats exactly what i was thinking...working on that.

Hmmm.... I was expecting you would try to achieve the "greenishness" with Compositors like Photoshop or GIMP, but I see you are literally trying to paint the characters so that you can just render them and they look "green".

That can work, but it carries risks because the speculars and shadows may not carry the same greenishness.

The problem of course is that there is literally no way of knowing what the natural colors were on "Children of Men" unless you can see the raw on-set photos before post-production.

I was just thinking about this, because I am currently doing a short where I am trying to mimic a similar "greenishness" from "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and it is very difficult when looking at just the finished print.

As for the production of your scene, I suggest taking inspiration from Pop-Up books and Paper-Tolling. It's not the most "honest" approach, but this is actually a simulation of the kind of deadlines you can expect in real life I guess. I think the guys doing CGI on "The Dark Knight" had a similar problem for finishing the Batpod and Tumbler sequences. They were lucky all principal objects just had to be very black.

Even then, to be honest, you have more than the detail and ability in Modelling and Painting to create something exceptional, even if you will have to resort now to projections.

Was looking good .. but unfortunately the time was over, man... the challenge ends on last sunday (08/09) ...

Vc deveria ter postado assim mesmo como estava no sabado cara .. agora j era .. :hmm:

Sorry for the lateness...i wish i had more free time,but i was drowned by the every day(need to do) things at work:(
Hopefully ill be ready for the next challenge, but i want to be so good like this latest one.
