View Full Version : Misc : copying rigged character problem

Hi,

I've setup a character including morphs, bones, skin etc. Now I want an exact duplicate of him, so I select the mesh + all of the bones and shift-move him, this goes well. But when I select the copied mesh including all of the bones again and only move him. All of the bones lag somewhere halfway behind the movement of the mesh. You can imagine the mess the, now out of body, bones cause to the mesh.

What am I doing wrong, any solution to this?

Thanks

Yeah, it's pretty straightforward.
Firstly - don't do it the way you are doing it!
What you need to do is select everything that makes up your character and go to tools and choose 'rename objects' ad a '01' or whatever as a suffix and now all your objects will be renamed to mesh01 for example.
Now go to file and merge the whole character from the same file on your hard drive, and when these come in they will have the old names and be different. So, no you have your two fully rigged characters.
Oh, and it may be worth freezing the first character + rig before importing so that you don't get all your bones and whatnot in a mess as they will be in exactly the same place.
Hope this helps!
