Here?s my idea, a quick and dirty pencil sketch but its enough to get me started.
A white rabbit spy, investigates a pack of wolfs who labors to build a weapon that will catch all the rabbits in the World! he?s job is dangerous but he got to stop them!
quite cliche, but it should be fun.

good luck everyone!

Hi everyone, thank you very much for all the support guys!

update some quick sketches for the rabbit characters to establish some direction for them, better keep it simple this stage.
Now i got to figure the wolf spy and the machine designs... i?ll probably be using 3ds max for some really basic models to help me with perspective and lighting and paintover it for the final image, anyway i give it a try since i want to explore this kind of stuff for a while and see if can pull something decent out.

thank you

first of all let me generally thank you for all your replies, its quite motivating to see my entrance is being well accepted.

update, couple more character sketches, she looks a bit santaclaus, might be funny for an evil character.
moving on to the rabbits weapon, i?ll come up with some sketches to clarify the idea, im going for an agressive heavy weapon look design instead of something like funny trap for the wolfs, to create more contrast and dangerous look to the rabbits tech!

i?ll start making my basic 3d layout soon.

Hi mates, thank you for your replies and support, overwhelming:)

HI Gonçalo!

The weapon looks great, however I would suggest that it had some kind of feature which made it clear that the wolfs were the target of the weapon. That way you would emphasize this war between rabbits and wolfs.
Just my 2 cents :)

Hi mates

Thank you very much for the supportive and encouraging comments! its said generally but each one means a lot, so thank you.

update, couple more ideas sideview sketches, i thought about and it and tryed more minimal forms, i notice sometimes on weapons looks even more terrifying, and the rabbits must look cold like ice fellows with an evil agenda going on.

I agree the weapon must have some kind of distinctive thing that will communicate its use, i though about stencils of anti wolf prpaganda or something close to that, since my idea is not caricaturize(make it funny) the machine, and more reflect the state of mind of this dictators!

Blacksad, sure i know it and it inspired me, hope not to much!

I?m going for a more "cloak / hide / sneak like situation" like L-rac mentioned.

Thank you a million!

I'm torn between B and C. The only thing with B that is bugging me is because of it's shape it seems that once fired it would roll backwards pointing the muzzle straight up. Although if animated could make for a fun hop motion when fired to go along with the rabbits.:bounce:

The color palette you're working with is very beautiful. I'd just try to get more contrast between wolfs and rabbits. Is there bad and good guys, or they are just enemy species?

Right now, you can't really tell that only by the colors. It gives them a neutral mood; more like good guys with a bad temper.

I just can't stop wondering how nice it would be to create a short animated film with those guys..

I don't know... I kinda liked the cybernetic Spy-Wolf.... even that "drunk" expression.

If both of your eyes have become cybernetic implants (or at least, really funky sunglasses with different colored lenses) the "Whoa" expression would be appropriate.

Still.. the new one is good.... I mean... They're all good. Depends on character in the end.

I would lose the hat though... It says "Detective" to me.

Hi mates,

update, making a basic 3d layout, just trying to find a good composition, i used the sketches mapped just to check how things might feat, i guess i?ll have to make a very basic "rabbit weapon 3d model" to have a nice base for the paintover, for the characters i?ll paint them from scratch, hope this w?ll work...

quick note, i´m planning to make an overcast snow environment, thought it could look cool and help bring that coldness to the picture.

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for all the great support mates, i cant really express how much i appreciate it.

not much of an update, i just finished the basic models i?ll be using to render it with some basic lights and then start paint over in photoshop, i really dont know where this will lead me but, what the heck i?ll learn something out of it and hope to fulfill some of your expectations. If you have sugestions for it, bring it on!

now i?ll put a layer on top of this and will start to draw the characters, in proper acting, i?ll try to give them the best look and serve the storytelling. The wood cargo boxes specially in foreground will be food, carrots! lots of them.

Thank you

Probably the best thing about your concept is not only does it provide a great piece for this challenge it opens up a whole storyline you could build up as far as a film... or films, if you wanted to. The robustness of your story and concepts just open the door to a wonderful world. Truly inspiring work. I look forward to seeing more.

WOW!! i never realize you were going to do this in 3d.. You have fantastic artwork in 2d and 3d.. For me i can only achieve 2d at this point.. Its good to see you are working hard on this one.. Great scene and lots of good imagination. Hope to see this completed keep it up!! love it!!

update

after doing some paintover in 3d render, i just could not get it as i wanted to and keep it expressive, decided to make some changes in the image, keep it all 2d and use only a simple printscreen of the 3d viewport and use it for guides, on top i?ll draw the scene, this way i think i?ll have more fun, more control and its more suitable to change things and experiment.

wildekyote, Thank you mate, glad you feel it like that, its what make it worth, thank you!

diissar, JRBRAZ, ShogunWarrior, Thank you for kind words and support!

CGIPadawan, "Do you think they became like this after years of being hunted by Wolves?" Oh yeah, the wolves are about to taste some of their own medicine. Thanks for your support mate!

Looking great so far! I think there still might be room to fool around with the exact pose of the tank - its silhouette isn't the clearest right now. And once you've got the 3D models, don't just use them to trace over: Get all the lighting information you can from them, even if you are going to paint over everything. It'll be a big help. Good luck!

That rabbit tank looks really menacing man. I just joined the challenge and haven't seen your thread till now. I see you have made a lot of concept work.
I think maybe the wolf is too close to the left edge of the picture, maybe you could make more room for the scene, but only a little, but that's only an opinion. The crates on the background are just touching the bottom of the left tank foot making it difficult to read.
Those are only minor issues, it's looking great so far.

The details here are looking really nice, keep it up! I agree with every point that Raimtxon made, so I won't repeat them, just note that I agree. And add a couple of my own: My main worry is that the main character isn't visible enough. In your earlier comps, before you put a grate over the window, that left corner was brighter and the character popped more. He was dark against a lighter space and stood out more. There are other things you could do to deal with it, such as adding some other light offstage to the left. And/or giving him some nice left-side rim light. (Or you could just ignore me! ;) ) But it would be nice to see him stand out enough to call our attention to him more, but not enough so that he gets caught!

Secondly, is the tank walking? The front left leg would seem to indicate so.. but if so, why is the hatch open? I would think the tank wouldn't move around when a belly hatch like that could drag on the ground? :)

Good luck with stuff, it's looking great!

Goncalo,

This looks great, but I am a bit concerned that the Rabbit Tank, now looks a bit more like an Elephant Robot. It's a bit too "Super-Advanced, like Japanese" as Shia La Beouf would put it. Now, don't get me wrong.. It looks GREAT! I'm just concerned it will drown out the Rabbits... who have done their best to look militaristic.

If you look back to first concepts, the tank was very military. The main thing I have concerns with is the cannon.. This is the part that can carry the vehicle's character.. and it doesn't look very industrial.

It looks very Science-Fiction.

Or maybe I missed some kind of concept development. Or maybe your artistic inertia is taking over as you are trying to finish this... But I'm just saying if I had a vote in this, I would have pitched for the more "Panzer" looking tanks so that it sticks with the Rabbit "Nazi" feel.

Hope you understand. But I have no qualms about style. Obviously you have immense talent and ability.

Good luck!

CGIPadawan, hi man, not at all, i understand perfectly your concern, but hey sometimes is better not to deny impulses, there is no change in the conceptual part of the image but i just thought, i want to go more crazy and sci fi with it, not that i think i ´ll succeed, since there is a war between the two species and the wolves suffered terrible losses in the battlefield, actually the tank being an oversize aberration could help justify why wolves send in a spy to risk his life. The rabbits are as mad as the wolves and their prey status is no longer part of the equation. Thanks for your imput once again.

authentic, hehe, me too, thanks.

diissar, Thanks man! yeah probably you right about it, but hey i could not resist changing it.

Hey Rawgon. This one is turning out awesome! Great stuff man!
Love the design of the tank.
the only thing is that it's a bit busy around the tank barrel. Maybe soften the contrast in the background? And I would personally remove the thing in front of the barrel (undefined part of background??). Just to make the tank 'pop' a bit more. But those are just my 2 cents, your doing great without me poking at details!

goodluck buddy!

Wolves and Rabbits are disputing the World.
For a long time Wolves ruled all the territory but the rabbits rise as opponents to the dictators, apparently with success.
Wolves suffered terrible losses in battle and heard rumors that the rabbit army constructed a menacing long range shooting vehicle code name Wolf Redeemer to conquer the World, capable of bringing a despair storm to whatever troops that its cannon is pointed, so wolves sent a highly trained and mean agent to gather all information possible even if that costs his own life.
This scene the wolf agent finally laid his eyes in the enemy weapon and trembles upon it, while the rabbit general explains to

Hello Goncalo,

I really like it. My only crit is that the story in print seems to imply that the Spy was spotted, but the body language of the Fire Soldier Rabbit and the Red Woman Rabbit does not immediately convey the "hey! Who goes there!" feeling that I think you were indicating in the story. It looks a bit like a diorama setup with Warhammer miniatures.

Nevertheless... It is a nice moody image. :) The main story, that of the play in the audience's mind regarding the normal relationship associated with Rabbits and Wolves, is still a big puller. :)

That story image of Rabbits-as-Aggressors should still make this work a very compelling piece of story-telling. Good work!

Simply great.

Agent is a bit "lost" in the image, but on the other hand its agent's goal to remain hidden and unnoticed so everything seems to be ok.
You actually managed to make a masterpiece. Good luck with the judges!

This scene the wolf agent finally laid his eyes in the enemy weapon and trembles upon it, while the rabbit general explains to
the lieder of the rabbit army the need to produce dozens of units to wipe out the enemy once and for all, but at this very moment the wolf presence gets noticed by the Lieder?s personal
bodyguards, the "pyro soldier" and the "red female" two of the most dangerous and cruel rabbits alive! a deadly confront is about to happen.

Wazaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa my friend!! :D

I just want to add another post to your post mountain!! let me be the cherry on the top! AHAHAH!

Now, speaking seriously, you really excelled yourself!! It's undoubtedly one, if not the most impressive work in this challenge! It really depicts everything needed to put up a secret agent shot, and most of all, not only depicts a shot, but an entire story or alternative reality, completely possible and amazing!

The love/hate story behind rabbits ans wolves is know from our child ages, but getting to revive it many years later, with such elements that make it into an epic tale, is simply great! no nice endings, no itchi bitty fluffy rabbits, just pure madness, organization and evil behind those rodents!! with a sick nazi twist in it, its just priceless!!

The wolf itself is, unexpectedly, the weakest being in the story... almost like the they're the ones in precarity...maybe not such a surprise, given the fact that they simply suppose they're bigger, badder, and meanest.. aren't they in for a BIG surprise !!! eehehhe

I say, let the wolfminator or whatever the heck it is break loose!! and why not, let us see that flamethrower work, ehehehehehhe ;)

Cheers, and may the carrot be with you! ;)
