Hi....
I want to work in Maya just like in classic (cel) animation... meaning that I use step curves for all the key frames and outputting in pairs (like frame 1,3,5,7... etc) but what I need is onion skin.
lets say that I have a keyframe(KF) in frame (F) 6 and another KF in F 12 and another in 18. I want that I will have ghosting only on these two keyframes when I am between those keyframes (6 and 12), but when I move to frame 13 it will update to display keys 12 and 18.

can someone direct me to a mel script or maybe it is emmbeded in Maya already and I just don't know....

PLEASE HELP ME... AHHHHHHHHH

This might help:
Zyats Mel scripts (http://www.zayatz.com/pages/mel.htm)

There's one called 'Ghost Window' that I've been using for a few months. It's very intuative, but sadly does not do the frame update thing you mentioned...

Select your object(s)
go to the frame you'd like to ghost
click Make Ghost

(you have a choice of wireframe or transluscent)

Works for me. :)

You have EXACTLY that option (showing only the keys as ghosts that is) in maya 5. Select the option box for Ghost and turn on keys.

If you like the cel aproach for animation, go to http://www.keithlango.com and read his tutorials on animation aproach. He's brilliant.

Cheers!
