Latest Update: Work In Progress: The Agent
06-12-2009, 06:08 PM
I've been trying to came up with a scene based on this illustration done by a friend of mine (Marcelo Souza) for a while. Secret Agent Challenge is the perfect opportunity.
I'll write a short story, before I can start to sketch the concept for the scene. I'm planning to work on one or two of those characters; they will be the "Agents Killers" trying to ambush my agent/hero.
You can see more of Marcelo's works on her flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marceleza/

So, these are the two bad guys. My scene will be set inside a train.
We will see them on a corridor, next to the door of a private cabin where the agent is reading a newspaper. The plane is to kill the agent, and through the body out. They are about to do that, but the agent is much more smart than they could've imagined!!
I'm looking for some references for the cabin..

lol I love their faces - no doubt that they mean business ;) :applause:

Ha! Cool character designs! Love it!

Did Bill Gates inspire you for the one on the right? :D
Cool work so far!
haha! nice characters. Herbert

So, I started to model the first character. It's just a simple base mesh; now is time to jump into ZBrush and get serious!
The head was deformed from a base mesh I did a while ago, and the rest were all done in Maya.
I'm still not sure, but I'll probably go for realistic details instead of a cartoon look.
06-16-2009, 08:33 PM
A little bit of ZBrush. How is it going so far??
06-16-2009, 09:44 PM
More and more ZBrush..
Time to start adding the small details.
06-17-2009, 08:19 PM
His head and gloves needs lots of details, but overall it's almost finished.
I'm not sure if we are going to be able to see his legs on the final composition, so I wont model them for now.
I still have two more characters and a train cabin to model; a lot of fun yet to come!!

nice transition from concept to model :) when you finish them there'll be quite a bunch

I'm just gonna work on two of them for this challenge; the two I posted on a separeted image.
I'm still not sure of how the agent is gonna look like. Maybe I'll take one of the others as reference; or I'll just sit with my friend who did that illustration (Marcelo Souza, like I mentioned before) and work on a new concept.
Maybe it's not such a good idea to base the "hero" of the scene on one of those other characters; they just doesn't look like good guys.

Hey Herbert!! great work!!
Good luck to us all!
O Madsen riu aqui achando que tu não tinha se ligado de quem era, quando tu me mandou o comentário!

I like a lot your sketch, and the 3d character is progresing very good.
keep it up
Your Zbrush character is looking great - lots of character. It's just my own opinion but I would have liked to see sphere eyeballs. But I guess it's just the style you're going for.
06-18-2009, 08:55 PM
mic: Thanks!! Actually, I've already changed his eyes and face a little bit after I've posted that last image. The eyes are more spherical, and the face is angrier now. I'm trying to make him more expressive, but I'm not satisfied yet. I'm trying to "finish" it, before I can post new images here, but I'll try to show a screencap of his face later today..
tunes: Thanks dude!! Como não te reconhecer com o "Madsen Fotografia" no seu perfil?? rs..

Ok, that's it. I'll stop working on this guy for now, and start modeling the next one..
I'll add a few more details on it if I have time. Still have a lot to model, before I can start working on the textures.

Ahah ! Nice one !
Lot of style here !
I will follow this !

very nice style I will keep folowing your progress

That's the gun for the Bad Guy n?2.
It's pretty rough so far, I'll work on it a little bit more on Maya, then jump to ZBrush.
I'll start modeling the other Bad Guy now, so I decided to model his gun first, so that I can pose him on ZBrush.
06-21-2009, 06:14 PM
That's not the same gun from the concept. As a Terminator fan, I thought a Winchester would looks better. ;)
06-21-2009, 09:04 PM
I have to give you credit, you captured the style of the characters perfectly. Now, who's our agent?
06-21-2009, 09:17 PM
I'm not sure if I'm gonna use some character from this first concept as the Agent, they don't look like good guys.
I sit with my friend, who did the illustration, and we discussed a few ideas. He is working on a concept for the agent, based on that same style.
06-21-2009, 09:47 PM
Ok, base mesh for the head of the Bad Guy n?2 done!
I'll try to simulate his hair on the final image, but I'll sulpt it any. It helps me with the overall shape of the character.
Now I'll model the base mesh for the suit and gloves, comp everything together and then have some fun with ZBrush!
06-23-2009, 10:30 PM
More ZBrush work on the Bad Guy n?2.
Not so close to the concept this time. I'm trying to make him more expressive as possible..
Still a lot to do. Gotta go faster!
06-23-2009, 11:01 PM
REALLY REALLY GOOD HERBERT! =D
06-24-2009, 10:24 PM
I decided to keep one of the other characters as my Secret Agent, instead of designing a new one.
Actually, this is the one I like the most. He has an ironic face; looks like he is hidding something. He will be inside of the train cabin, waiting for the bad guys.. they just don't know it!
I'm almost finished modeling the second bad guy. I'll post some more wip images tomorrow.
