View Full Version : Realistic waterfall tutorial?
azozel 06-12-2009, 05:45 PM I'm looking for a tutorial on how to make a realistic waterfall in XSI using ice.
I say one about a week ago but can't for the life of me find it again. Please help. You will earn 10 happy fuzzy karma points. :)

iirc there was something on the old softimage community site. maybe ask autodesk where they moved everything, I can't find anything that was on the old site.
but a waterfall wouldn't be too hard honestly.. just emit at an angle, drop a gravity force on it, and maybe generate particle strands. add a spawn on collision when it hits the ground to create the splash effect.. everything else is the shader you use and whatever post-work you do like fog or whatever.

here you go, maybe this will get you started.. it's not production ready by ANY means (the particles have no age limit, etc):

you might use a bounce off surface node instead of a slide, it will probably look better, but I just slapped it together :P
