View Full Version : 2009 SIGGRAPH Diary :: Event Coverage
PaulHellard 06-12-2009, 07:37 AM Hey there,
I've opened the SIGGRAPH 2009 Diary early this year. We have so much material to discuss before the show, I decided to make a start, and to do it now. I began with a two part interview with Ronen Barzel, the 2009 SIGGRAPH Chair.

Just one correctionto the latest entry, it's just ACM SIGGRAPH Awards, not ACM SIGGRAPH Artists Awards.

Glad to hear you guys are enjoying my state. Don't worry about the heat, it's the humidity that kills ya. I would really like to hear how you are pronouncing some of the local names.
Tchoupitoulas = chop a TOO las
Lagniappe = lan yap
I'll leave the rest too you.
Make sure you eat, eat and eat some more. :D

I love the fact that there is a "Gift and Jewelry" expo in the same building. I've never seen so many women with looks of horror on their face as a group of us geeks starts heading their way. It's fun to laugh at them.

Haha, yeah I know, right? When does the jewelry thing go away?

I wish they'd taken the hall we're all in. Then SIGGRAPH would truly have been just across the road from where we're staying.

We should think of some joke to play on them...
Maybe send over FJORG! to their side of the convention center and show them just how weird we really are!?

By the way, the MAXON booth presentations have been absolutely stunning, surprising, and quite an eye opener for me (and I knew these guys have been using C4D/BP3D).
If you haven't yet, get to the MAXON booth the last day to checkout Imageworks (http://www.imageworks.com/) and Rhythm & Hues (http://www.rhythm.com/) presentations (I think they are the first 2 presentations of the last day).
If you still need an expo pass go here (http://www.maxon.net/en/news/newsroom/events.html).
