I'm not sure if I'm my method for building a hand locking mechanism is correct or not. But suffice to say. It seems to work on the left side of the rig fine. The right side though when switching from ik to fk causes the hand to flip around when the hand lock is active and switch to fk. I don't know how to adjust maya's solving for the orientation. This is kind of hard to describe. So here is the file..

I animated it to demonstrate how the right side is broken. The flipping occurs between frames at 100 and 180. Strangely enough it doesn't flip at the start when going from fk to ik. just when the ik handles are pulled in towards the body.

3 sets of arms for the ik/fk swtich. 1 fk. 1 ik. 1 that swtiches.

The ikgroup wrist is orient constrained to the two circles that are are attached to the IK arm. They have a switch locks the wrist down and frees the wrist.

My first thought is that the Nurbs circles on the flipping hand don't have the same local rotation as the joints. on the correct side they do.

So if you break the constraints, place the Nurbs circles under a group each, center groups pivot, orient the group to the joint, then delete the constraint, and then do what you did between your joints and nurb circles to make your switch work.

I did not get much time to play with it, but that is my initial thought. might not be the correct answer...

Fixed. I'm just not used to having to do some extra work on the opposite side of a rig. Thank you. :wavey:
