Hi guys not sure this is the right forum but is my best guess. I am in Colorado and am looking for Maya training or a Maya tutor. I am attending Front Range College and have found a full degree may not be the path for me. I am looking to go into animation and probably game animation and just want to know art. I have looked into some tech schools such as Gnomon but they are out of state. I have the starter set of gnomon videos and am looking for some help from someone further along than me. I have tried a ton of tutorials and have some great books but I am missing something. I seem to be in the transitional step of I know a bit but can't do anything yet. If anyone can help me out or can provide tutoring post or email me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again.

I'm from Boulder, originally, but moved to S.F. I really wish I had taken some more drawing classes back then, where they were cheaper.
That's my best advice first. Draw alot. You will be able to translate more than you might believe (from 2d to 3d). If you are already a fantastic draftsman, just take some classes where you are.
But you have the greatest repository of 3d geeks on the planet all residing right here. So post questions, and screeshots. And always do searches here for previously posted questions. Most of them have really already been asked.

Good Luck

i know of the transition period you are speaking.

really the only answer is patience, persistance and pain.

it's not easy and you'll not likely find someone to hold your hand through it, so just do it.

like dan said, traditional art skills are a must. take some art classes at your local community college.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am signing up for drawing and photoshop classes this fall. Also on the tutorial you posted there are no written instructions. I do like that it doesn't say creat object xyz with xyz dimentions so when you finish you have no idea what you did. But I do not know half the tools to do most of what is done in the tutorial. If there were a few tips on what tools were used to do section by section that would help a lot. Thanks again.:applause:

dude i wrote all the shit u need to know, ccmon, there are written instructions, tons of them, u just have to get the basics settled to jump onto my tutorial. I made it as detailed as possible, except in the end i was a little bored, so i just skipped a few things. BUt if you read this tutorial of mine really carefully ull help yourself a lot.
Its very good on makin cars as well as characters, cuz polygons are good for characters. Anyway, here is my screen name for aol:

its alright man, the layout of my tutorial is not good, so my friend will probably redesign it so it fits the screen well and such, and we are going to make more turorials i think, mostly we are going to just place a link to badazz tutorials on our site here www.vertexstudios.net

So if you have time check it out, it may come soon or never.
