So i'm working on this project and i've come to a stand still... I'm trying to model a 3D mummy i was told it was to be cinimatic quality and i dont know where to begin.

It needs to be a hi res model so here are the options i'm thinkling of

Option 1: Modeling the entire mummy with a zbrush type app to get the best detail for his res with normal maps

my problem is time though i have about a week or less to do this sooo..

Option 2: grabing a male 3d mesh and modeling just a few wrappings around it and or applying the wrappings as a texture around the body.

If anyone has any ideas or opinions on this it would help me out greatly, Thanks!

I would go for the ZBrush approach. Import a male basemesh into ZBrush and paint the bandages as displacement map.

Less than a week to do a cinematic quality mummy character? I'd raise two fingers at who ever said that. What kinds of time scales are feature film character models running to these days from start to finish?

Unbelievable time frame you have there:eek:. Another approach you could consider is just making a very high resolution displacement map of the wrapping in photoshop; using exported uv's of a premade human model. Then you can import it into ZBrush with the disp map and fix the edges to make it look more torn and aged.

I guess it depends on what you're faster with. Personally it would take me much longer to sculpt the wraps in zbrush than in photoshop.

Best of luck to you.
