Im sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. No ill will is intended. The only venue to seek out interested modelers is by posting a 300.00 ad on the jobs forum. This technically is not a job. No money is being made off of this project and none being offered.
I am looking for a mid-Sr level character modeler who is capable of taking 2-3 models that are nearly complete to the next level. You will be provided with a base mesh from Maya and a .ztl from Zbrush. You will be responsible for following concept art and using your creative influence to make pre-existing models look better. The models for the most part are technically accurate and will deform well. I need an experienced modeler to notice shortcomings then tighten up edge flow and topology. The models must be able to create basic blend shapes. The ideal candidate should also be able to open the Zbrush file and add more detail where you see fit based on concept art then transpose the ZB sculpt onto the retopologized model. Models must match concept art as closely as possible.
-Excellent Maya polygon modelling skills and the ability to apply and manage UV’s is essential.
- Previous experience creating cartoon based models(similar to Monster House, Coraline, nightmareB4Xmas) and hard surface models is essential
- Thorough understanding of the modelling process and the ability to both interpret designs and accurately match concept reference material
- You must be able to work well within a team environment and take direction from Supervisors as appropriate
- Texturing skills are advantageous
- A familiarity with ZBrush and UVing tools are a plus
- Previous film industry experience is preferred
Along with your resume, please submit a show reel demonstrating previous modelling experience. Please include a shot breakdown.
online portfolios only.
This job is for LOS ANGELES based artists ONLY.
Currently this project is intended for film festivals and private screenings only. Concept art and character designs are provided by a widely renowned "low brow" artist. This project will have a high level of visibility but currently pays only copy and credit.
