View Full Version : Creating a flexed card anim
kromekat 07-22-2003, 12:12 PM Any thoughts on the best way to make a model of a playing card flex for animation? - boning or simple deform?
I am new to animation and rigging!

Here is a sample I whipped up using bend and twist deformers. If you need to do anything more complicated, I would use bones to convey more character but the basic deformers in Cinema work quite well for many scenarios. If you need the card to cup up like a letter C I would consider using the wrap deformer as well as "shear" for other effects. I think one thing you should keep constant is the volume of the card...

You might want to scan in or draw your own card images if this is for commercial purposes.

wesware! - thanks very much indeed! - the movements I need are far less accentuated than that even, so your method will defintely work for my purposes!
Thanks again! :)
