ID, thanks for the feedback, there seems to be something wrong with the installation, or operation of the player. I have posted on their forum, I hope to get a result tomorrow.

Thanks for the input, it seems that this is the problem with older (ageist??) flv's, they dont have "metadata" injected into them. And so will not view online as nice as the youtube ones that have data injected into them. And to inject is a massive undertaking. That'll takes ages, so i'm looking at other options.
If they were Quicktime, we'd have no problem. (shameless plug).
Will update later today.

Ok after conversion and injections and lots of stress and coffee...
I'd like you to try this one... You should now see it as a correct progressive download..

Hi,
excuse me not posting here much, but for some reason when i try it fails quite frequently and it makes it very time consuming, But i now always notepad the reply first!! But these last weeks its some i dont have a lot of time to mess with.
The Letterbox site is really explaining why & what Redi-Vivus.com is about. But I must agree there needs to be a link to Redi-Vivus.com, it was written i think assuming you knew about the site.
The reason that only the explanation of Steven's thoughts is on Letterbox, is that he wanted to make Redi-Vivus only about the free education...
But also free of those google ad's, donate buttons, banners, "buy it now" "flashing whatevers" expletives etc, and just concentrate on delivering the high quality free training.
Now the reason Redi-Vivus gives a password protection dialog box, is that, right now were working on the last phase of getting it all up and operational. Its a big task.
I dont have the exact numbers, but its like from 15 downloads-10 pages sites, to 500 web pages and 30ish dvd's downloadable training, and 500 online videos. Both hi and lo-res versions, so depending on your country and bandwidth and caps you can still get to see it.
So you see its a quantum leap from what it was to what is will shortly be.
Unfortunately, my local telco exchange has not been very stable this week, much to my annoyance, so it reamains protected like that, as the beta testers can actually test it "on site", and make sure all the online material is right, and the downloads work. So thats why the dialog is there.
So that dialog will go away very soon, and you'll be able to view and download high quality free training.
We hope you enjoy and learn from it.
Cheers

Well we do run tests... and you can now too....
There are so many videos, i'd like you to test them and see if they work..
if there is a problem or its the wrong video, write here, and please... be specific.
The user name is ... server
The pass is .... online
Note the downloads are NOT up yet, i just need lots of hands to test the hundreds of videos.
Cheers
Terry
Note this user/pass will be taken away in the final version

The login prompts behaved a little strangely on Firefox 3.5. I had to enter the user/pass combination three or four times to get all the way to the videos.
Just took a look at a couple of the certified instructor vids which I'd never seen before. Really psyched to go through them.
The links to the Modeling a Colt 45 and Modeling a Face videos point to the wrong tutorials.

Ok . Managed to log in. Yet to check the videos.
BTW just as a suggestion to your bandwidth and server crash issues, why not setup the vids as torrents ?

Hi and thanks for letting me know.
The FF thing, I dont know, tried on FF 3, IE 7/8 all ok? It also may have been i did make a change to the actual text on the dialog, so it maybe ok now. That could have been the prob.
Other stuff all fixed, remember to hit refresh :-)
Glad to know as well that the vids are good news :-)
PS dont forget the production stuff, there are some real gems in there.
Cheers

Good question, here's the answer..
1) Initially torrents take lots of bandwidth before they get spread out. So its not that beneficial as there is a small user base.
2) Your relying on people seeding to ensure you get the file, that does NOT always happen. That to us simply put is not satisfactory. It does not match the goals of what we set out to achieve.
3) Because of the RIAA's new policies, many ISP's are now very wary about torrents and their users. Many countries and ISP's deny torrents, we don't want to deny any person from any country learning.
4) Negative connotations that surround them.
Also its -NOT- the bandwidth that were are concerned about, it's many concurrent users staying online while download.
That's very different from say visiting here, as the connection is stateless.
I think i posted about this in xsibase, check it out.
Cheers

Fair enough. I can understand the issue with Torrents. Maybe it can be added as an option with one permanent seeder.
The videos look cool. How about setting it up so that people can upload their own tutorial vids at some point further on in time.
Awesome job again.

Its the other stuff not the seeding that's important. Take a look at Riaa & mpaa and isp's. Google it, and you'll -really- understand why, things have changed.
But the long and the short of it is; its not going to happen that way at Redi-Vivus.
Thats a good point about uploading own made stuff.
But for now I really need some sleep. Maybe next week ... (ok, thats a joke) :-)
Cheers
