I just thought I'd share this tip since Mental Ray chokes on LZW TIFFs and someone tipped me off to this. You can add an environment variable to disable LZW compression in MB.

How to add an environment variable in Windows XP:
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Environment variables.
- Click New to add a new variable name and value.
How to add an environment variable on Mac:
Grab this:
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14617/rcenvironment
and add the lines above ("MUDBOX_NO_COMPRESS_TIFF_LZW" as variable and "1" as value), LOG OUT and then it will load when you log in again and Mudbox will use it from then on.
Voilą - no more resaving normal maps over and over from Photoshop.
