Hi guys i am new to this forum, i was just wondering if anybody knows a way to make some nice looking trees with a 3D cartoon look, i tried the traditional particle system and using an instanced object which is the leaf and the tree just doesnt look cartoon enough. Anybody have the secret ?
Thanks for your help!

How cartoony are you going for? You can very easily get Warner Bros.-esque trees by using squashed spheres to represent "clumps" of leaves. Add a noise mod to 'em if you want a little extra character, but don't go overboard. A falloff map with a couple variations of dark/light mottled green noise makes a nice texture for the 'leaves'.
P'raps I'll post a pic later tonight to show you what I mean.

Thanks for the reply, i did what you said and it helped.
it's not easy to have a 3d cartoon look, but at least i tried right ?
Someone suggested me to work in soft 3d ans use toon shader,
but if your client wants it in 3dsmax...
Thanks.
