View Full Version : Pole Vector Constraint Question

Hi,

I am currently building a rig and I would desperatly like to be able to add some sort of visual feedback to the pole vector contraints. If you've ever used IK joe you will know what I mean. There is a visible line that connects the pole vector locator to the beginning and end of the IK chain (shoulder and wrist in my case).

This would be very usefull in making my rig more intuitive and aesthetic for the animators. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kiaran

Hi,

there's probably an easier way, but right away, you could create a line (2 points), and add 2 clusters (one to each point of the spline). Then point constrain the clusters to the ole vector and to the wrist.
Repeat for the shoulder, this way you'll have 2 lines always being drawn from the pole vector to the wrist and shoulder.

That did the trick! Fifty points for bry!

Although this way wasn't hard, I'd be interested to here if anyone has a different way of doing this...;)

Thanks,

you could possibly use an annotation, too! that way you don't have to create the clusters. you will get an annotation node and a locator, connected by a line. just parent those where you want to have your visual feedback...
just my 2 cents.

thanks, I'll look into that.
