Can iuse Tab key as a hotkey?

Yeah, I don't think it is possible.

By using Alt+0009 on the keypad I did manage to get a tab character into the input box, but Maya still complained that it was invalid.

if u want to use the tab key for the toggle smooth...i think there is a script on highend for just that

just the key i would like to use. but its not a problem i just use tilde.
