I'm trying to decide on a good camera tracking program to use with MAX. Does anyone have any experience with SceneGenie?

Is it better to go with the more expensive apps like Matchmover or 2d3 boujou?

thanks

I would say go with SceneGenie. For me Boujou gets about 70%-80% of the shots I through at it and SceneGenie handles the rest. If you have enough money Boujou is one of those fire and forget solutions that does a pretty good job but can really crash and burn. SceneGenie can do more than just camera track though. I used it to match move the invisible man's head on League of Extraodinary Gentlemen. It worked pretty well for the footage I was given. You can also use it in animation rigs but that's a whole can of worms I haven't opened yet. Matt Merkovich has done some pretty amazing things with SceneGenie that he has up on his website.

yes, Scenegenie is a great plug for max
And Matt Merkovich is a very cool man.

If you work only with Max: purchase scenegenie.

thanks for the suggestions....

I checked out Matt's website and his work with SceneGenie. It seems the way to go.

One thing though, the company(AFX I belive) who sells it seems kind of "un-professional". I'm a little worried about their support.

I checked out their website and some things are out-of-date- like pricing for MAX 4 only.

any thoughts.............
