Hi,

I'm working on some animations with a Dumbu Rig, which has IK/Fk switch on the hand controller.

What I'm wondering is if it's possible to block out a pose with the IK controls and then switch to Fk and key the rotations of the joints as opposed to the translation of the IK'd controller.

I tried simply blocking it in Ik then switching to fk, but as soon as I do the limbs drop down and lose the pose.

hey Gthoma2,

some rigs have what's called "IK-FK Matching" which allow you to match the poses from FK to IK and viceversa. I've never used the Dumbu rig so I'm not sure if the author offers it, check for mel scripts on the package or shelf buttons, or contact him directly. Of course you could venture into the wonderful world of MEL scripting to get it done, here's one of surely many tutorials on the matter (http://timoberlander.blogspot.com/2008/07/tutorial-fkik-matching.html).

The easiest solution IMHO is to just stick with IK or FK, whatever option you're more comfortable with.

Good luck!

typically do my blocking pass in IK for the Ease and use of pole vectors. Then I use a script I wrote, IKFK Matcher to switch it back to FK.

Enjoy. It seems to work well with other setups
