Do you need exercises or understanding the principles (which is theory)? I guess you can find good books on the topic of composition, but I didn't see much of tutorials, or rather exercises. But I've got some good ideas for exercises if interested.
Here's the first couple of:
The line. Horizontal line suggests calmness and maximum stability, vertical is more tense, but still has some stability, and diagonal is the most dynamic and unstable.
Make a composition utilizing horizontal lines on a topic of sports.
Make a composition utilizing vertical lines on a topic of chemistry.
Make a composition utilizing diagonals on a topic of modern music.
As you can see, those exercises will force you not just to make lines, but using them on a chosen topic, which will make your brains to work really hard and using the principles on real assignments. :)
