eyewoo 07-21-2003, 04:25 PM This is the first of a series of illustrations for a children's picture book written by an author named Paula Golden. The upper left corner area is quite bland, because there will be story text there. The picture is for a two page spread.
It is quite sickeningly sweet... The rest of the pictures will be less so...

I actually got the commission through the ArtWanted.com portfolio site -- first time from that site!

Very nice. I particually dig the peanut road.
Did you scan a drawing and then paint over?
Good luck with the illustration work and book. :)
This looks dead on the style of 'candyland' (that's a game right?). Whatever the title was, i remember the style, not the name :)
Not really my type, but i can still give you credit for making it look great!

singleguy... Gonna post more... The next one will be inside a haunted house... not so sugarie :)
TOBER... Yeah... the peanut road. In the book it is described as being "rather bumpy" ... No scans - I draw the initial scetches right into Photoshop and then start working with color.
Neil... hmmmm... I Google searched on Candyland and game. Came up with a board game, but not a computer game. This is a style I began developing several years ago when I did the background artwork for a computer game called "Gilbert Goodmate and the Mushroom of Phungoria." It's one of my favorite styles, of which I use several.
Yes i was talking about the board game.

I wasn't saying it's a bad thing, just that it reminded me of it.

eyewoo, wonder could you tell me how do you work? I just went to your website, saw your paintings, it is as good as this candyland. Im just an amature who hungers for professional opinions. Could you pls give some comment on my work pls? It is actually terada's artwork, so i used this as a reference to study, mainly on lighting and volume.
thanks a million.

singleguy... I'd be glad to. How long have you been making artwork? Let me know and I'll then write you a private email.

thanks alot. Well, im currently in an art colege doing animation. This college has a different way of training, they don't really concentrate too much on software only, but also other skills, can say it is very distributed. Well, it kinda good thats why im in this college.
I don't really have any drawing background, and i have enrolled in this college for almost 2 years already, a 3 year diploma programme. The only problem is that i have been a really bad boy the past two years. , thats why im not progressing as fast as my mates. . I reliased that the first year when i started drawing, i can see a lot of improvement, but now.. its kinda slow.. don't know how to push myself... i want to know more how people work themselves up there (apart from hardworking, which is a must).. so i guess i have only one more year to brush up my skill before going into the industry. Thanks again for spending time reading this.and heres my email btw.
