EDIT: Solved, the solution in post 2

I am in Vista64bits.
Downloaded the 2.49 final release today and installed it. Some error about side-by-side don't remember what and blender don't run. So I go again to Blender download page and then I can see the little letter: You must download the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable to Vista 64 version can run.
I downloaded and installed that and now Blender runs.

BUT, in the "black console window" it shows the message: Compiled with Python 2.6.1 ....Checking for installed Python...No installed Python found.

I tried installing Python 2.5.2 and Python 2.6.2 and it continues the same.

Anyone in Vista64 knows how to install Blender 2.49??? Thanks.

I was downloading (www.python.org) the Python2.6.2 Windows Installer and that was the problem

In Vista64 we must download Python2.6.2 Windows AMD64 Installer

And now 2.49 says python present at last.
