Hi cgsociety!!

I was wondering is there any suggestion on Dvd's That touch upon a character modeling . I want to be a Character modeler( Like model humans comic book characters mostly anything humanoid) I have a bit of polygonal modeling experience I have modeled character's, but i want better topology, for example: edge loops around eye's and mouth, ear's. I use Maya so I'm looking for something dealing with it, and I kinda only want to stick with Maya until I understand it a bit more, I go into zbrush and finish my models and the poly count is crazy, and i feel like I'm taking the easy route. I want to learn how to model base mesh's that are clean and good enough to take into zbrush and finish them there. any comment will help, Thanks guys

hi ambrose, there's allot of great ones on the gnomon site for starters, then there's gnomonology and digital-tutors, there's one with Zack Petroc showing how he approaches a basemesh wich i recommend, i bought some of my first ones from KURV studios, with narration by Glen Southern, definitely learned tons of stuff from those, though now with things like Zbrush and Mudbox artists don't do as much hardcore poly modeling as before, most of these won't teach you better topology though, for examples of topology around the eyes, mouth, ears i'd recommend to look at wires, there's a thread called "Topology research" and another one by Steven Stahlberg that i also recommend checking out for tons of wires, topology basically follows the muscles so knowledge about human anatomy comes in handy as well, anyways, hope that helps gotta go sleep

Hey Ambrose

Check out this web page: http://hippydrome.com

The mesh design is what i use every time i start a new model and adapt it as I go.

cheers,
