To return the skeleton to the bind pose

1. Click the Select Tool and cancel the selection of jackie.

2. Turn off Modify > Evaluate Nodes > IK Solvers.

After you use an IK handle to pose a character, you must do this step before you can return the skeleton to the bind pose.

3. Select back_root, the root of the skeleton.

4. Select Skin > Go to Bind Pose.

5. Select the ikHandleLeftArm in the Hypergraph. Use the Move Tool to move the handle manipulator slightly in any direction. When you release the mouse, note that the arm does not move and that the IK handle manipulator snaps back to the desired position at the end of the joint chain. Repeat this step for any other IK handles you posed previously.

6. Turn on Modify > Evaluate Nodes > IK Solvers.

You must do this step to enable the IK solvers so you can manipulate IK handles in the scene again.

The skeleton for my stick figure returns to the bind pose as described, but when i do this "Select the ikHandleLeftArm in the Hypergraph..." bit, the manipulators don't do jacks**t but move where i move them.

Now these are in the tutorials for maya 5, what's the deal cause i'm following this word for word, step by step...

Thanks for your help.

I've returned now to the bind pose according to the instructions from Maya manual as listed in previous post. Notice how the ik handles haven't returned to their original position, but that's expected according to Alias Wavefront...

And here i am trying to do what they say by selecting the loose ik handle in the hypergraph and moving it slightly. It doesn't pop back like they say it will. In fact if you look closely at the picture the joint is actually popping towards the ik handle, undesirably...
