Just googling and I came across two links for ADAPT 2009, no content as yet but the placeholders are out there. Also a couple of twitters. Looks like it is starting to roll.

Adapt 2009... what is it? A CG conference? Any good?

You would think they would have up some sort of info there. I'm within driving range, and am curious....

Well, I guess best way to describe it would be to say "its sorta like Siggraph only a bit smaller and in Montreal"

Someone took the time to write a diary of his visit last year here on cgsociety you can check it out at : http://features.cgsociety.org/adapt08/

Thanks Simon, I was about to post the link as well.

Dan, I'd keep this thread subscribed, cos there are about to be some very interesting and exciting developments re: ADAPT 2009. I'll make sure I drop the details here as soon as they come to hand as official.

Thanks for stepping in Paul. Was starting to get worried with the lack of info. I have reserved a weeks vacation out of my allotment, just need to know when to file it. Standing by as I want to be there.

Dan, I had a bunch of fun there for the last two events. Missed the first one but as you can see above, I do want to re-attend. I am not in the industry but as a serious hobbyiest I find the presentations quite inspiring both in terms of technical info and just in looking at the works and ideas involved.

I was there last year and enjoyed it. I find siggraph can be somewhat overwhelming, especially with the big distraction of the exhibit floor which often becomes a mad dash for schwag. With adapt i was able to go to the talks i was really interested in and didn't have much problem with schedule conflicts like with siggraph. Besides, montreal is just a really cool city. It's worth it just to see montreal if you've never been there :-).

Well, it's the 28th and still nothing. If anything is going to happen in September, it getting bloody late to announce. Still standing by...for now.

You know i remember having the same problem last year. I kept wondering when they were going to announce everything for adapt. Looks like they're cutting it even closer this year.

Yeah, I must admit it is getting late to be announcing a conference for september. Maybe my info was wrong and it will be later this year... I dont know. Lets hope we get some infos soon.

Vancouver is already in the plans, as part of our roadshow 2009 - 2010. Let us know if you have other cities in mind you think would be interested in having us!

So if i read the posts right, there is no Adapt for 2009?

It takes about 6-12 months to arrange a show like that. Now is a bit late to start working on something of this size for 2009.

I believe that it is dead for 2009 despite there being no notice anywhere online. I cannot see how it would be possible to pull off in the remaining time.
Given the silence on this, I am going to consider long and hard before putting any money into such events next year. No communication does not foster trust!

Hello Incarnadine,

We have already started to talk about this in public, we are looking to create a major event on the East Coast to counter-balance the one we already have on the West Coast.

This new show, entitled CG CON - THE WHITE CONFERENCE will be held in one of the East Coast cities we are visiting as part of the Roadshow, very probably, in Montreal. The show will be held on a week-end next Spring and will have 4 tracks with 8 classes in each program: Animation, Modeling, Digital Painting and Business. In total, this show will feature over 20 speakers, and offer over 30 lectures, and the price will be highly competitive.

So, stay tuned to www.cgcon.net as we will be making some announcements very soon about this.

Take care!

Jean-Eric Henault
