View Full Version : Melting Script :Sand Model
mpingping1102 05-26-2009, 03:29 PM Hi, I'm Ping
I'm testing the EventScript(or script programming in Realflow) to simulate the melting of particles.

This is fantastic work! You mind telling us a bit about how the script works?
My only critique - have you tried lowering the surface tension? Sometimes it looks a bit liquidy.. More like mud than sand.

the sand effect is awesome!! really dig it.
i also think it feels too liquidy for sand. for me its the puddle effect on the ground. the outer particles look like they're being pushed out, like a growing puddle. but sand falls over itself. so you would get this stacking effect. then, when the weight becomes unstable, it would topple, start stacking, topple......... It would all happen very quickly, but give you the feeling of density the you dont get with a liquid. the pig sim seems to do this better than the others. hope that makes sense.
but the overall effect is quite believable. excellent job!!!

You awe us all, Ping. This is superb.
I liked the liquid appearance of the runoff since it gives context to why the sand is melting away but would also be good to have an appearance of only sand.
You could also try to incorporate the prevention of sand floating in mid air. It just breaks the illusion since it sticks out so much.

But more than sand I would say it loks like mud !
Exellent work none the less.

Wow this really was great. Looked amazing. I think you did a great job scripting this. Thumbs up!
OMG that was amazing, the pig was my favorite. Thumbs up !!
I would say that the fact that it looks "muddy" is great too me. Sand and water tend to have that effect. Great job!!!

Thank for the comment.
Now I'm trying to develop the script for the general case of model. For now, I have to revise the script(program in realflow) each model that I simulate melting.
Ping.
