This was created by the user TitForTat (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=369517).

It took about 1 hour. I took a break, so I'm not sure. I though I'd be done in 30 minutes, because the bricks and the roof didn't take more than 20. The roof is a cone with a scattered box. For the bricks I made two rows, multiplied and applied an FFD + turbosmooth. As weird as it may sound, what took the longest was the hair falling out the window. It was kind of complicated to get the braides right.

Thats what he said he done, but how would i do things like this in maya?

Im not entirely sure what to search for on how to find this. If anyone can tell me the modeling techniques or tools in maya i can use to acheive those results i would be greatful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi...
I suppose you didn't get an answer as the question is a bit generic and one should write a tutorial:)

the technique is essentially the same, but the tools are called differently.
you model, then duplicate then smooth
The roof looks a bit too messy to me, I'd place the tiles in a tidier way, it looks a bit like they have been thrown on the roof rather than placed.
can you be a bit more specific?

the base is a single mesh with all the faces extruded with keep seperate on then polySmoothed. the roof you can use the paint geometry tool, create a particle system and pull the pointPosition of each point and transform geo there then do a normal constraint, take the time and place them by hand or many other ways. One question. Why does someone model something and post the time it took to do it? What is important here? I can knock out trivial things for you quickly or I have a great eye and the discipline to finish a job when it is done!
