This is a link to a character of mine, just scroll down and look for one by Ian Dold. It didnt strictly fit the theme of the site, but I thought I'd just submit it to see if it would get posted
IT Did !!!:D

Unfortunately I dont have any web space at the moment so this is all I can post. I dont have acess to a decent computer at the moment either so I cant re-render any wire fromes etc. (or improve on the character anymore obvioulsly)
Any comments/crits are more than welcome. I havnt shown anyone on cgtalk anything before so I'm interested to see what people think

-Thanks

He means this one:

I like it very much

The only thing I can see is that the "stalk" of the eyes has a rather sharp angle in it. If you intended it to be that way, then I see nothing else immediately wrong :applause:

Hope you get some more replies now ;)

Thanks Gatling, yeah, I did want the stalks at that angle. But there are a few little problems with it. Theres a bit of map stretching near the corners of the hand, I just used planar mapping for that, but spent alot of time on it in photoshop so I thought I'd just show a close up view. Also the fingernails dont sit in the flesh properly, they just sit on top..........Ok from a distance, but not so cool up close. Theres a few other things wrong, but its probably not a good idea to slate my own work:D
THanks,

Looking good, the colour must have been difficult to pull off well but i think you have managed it. I am working on a very similar model to that with eyes on stalks for a lip sync scene so this have been usefull to me as a preview. it looks like you have doen it very well. What are you going to be using it for? One thing that is diffreent on mine are some big eyebrows to help withthe expressions, i am hopeing you are toing to animat this?

Thanks tpe, actually one of the hardest things about the colour was the fingernails..........it was hard to make them purple with out them looking quite feminine, -that shade seemed to work.

Thats wierd, I also made him for a lip synking exercise! It was actually a project at college - the promo vid had an alien which they wanted to replace, -therefore the friendly alien look! I figired big lips would be more expressive for that.

As for an animation, I did lip synk him to a few sentinces, but I didnt get round to a full animation. I just threw together a walk cycle so I could put him on my showreel. Those are actually shots from it. You can see that his lips are in slightly different positions.

But I would like to do something with it. Its a shame to have a fully riged model, and no animation for it.

My origonal design also had tufts of hair-eyebrows. And also a single tuft of long hair under the bottom lip, like a goatie. But I had a deadline, and it seemed to look ok without it, so just kept it that way.

Good luck with your model, I'd be interested to see it. I dont spose you'll post it as a WIP?

hehe my sister thinks it's cute, I'd like to see him in a scene! ;)

Crit: perhaps eyelids should stick closer onto the eyeball... currently, it looks like the eyes are just floating there, and theres a bit of a gap between the eyelids and eye.
