View Full Version : Vehicle: police chaser
nalhcal 07-20-2003, 07:39 AM This is a police car I made, after being inspired from too much Vice City. :D Well, I am quite happy with it, think it looks speedy enough.
If you have any comments or criticism, I would love to hear it because I plan to make a chase scene, and would use this car again. :)

if the car is in a powerslide, the tracks are wrong for the motion, and you would not see the individual tread. check out pavement skids in real life. also, the car needs some details for a cop car. like the nerf bars, "protect and serve" comments/slogans, unit number, looks far too clean. and yeah, too much glow...
nice looking design though, just detail it up. always wows the crowds to have the doohickies on it. :)
edit: oh yeah, and why do only the left tires leave marks?

yes and when a car is in a spin, the wheels are either spinning very quickly or not at all, therfore you could not see the individual treads. The glow overkills your work too, its like saying "look at me, I'm a glow, I very special, I cover up the model!"

Uh, looks somewhat awkward IMO.
The mesh seems clean and well organized though, except for some 'too-round' edges.
You're missing some of the car components that are usually overlooked: Side mirrors and winshield wipers.
Also, try making even very simply-shaped interior then transparency windows. It will make a big difference.
As of all I mentioned above, and the lack of environment makes it look like a toy car right now...
But you've definately got a good base to begin with, so please work more on it! ;)
Sorry if I sounded mean.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't think too much about the skids. I haven't actually seen any, so I had to guess. I forgot about the other tires skidding, oops. :) I will try different lights, but if you see them withouth flares http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/2449860
they look very plain. Though that just might be the lack of detail in the cars themselves.
