I was wondering. How do you set up 2 perspective views to model a low poly on one side and a higher poly version on the other side while it updates in realtime?

go to your persp window and choose panels>layouts>two panels side by side.

then make the second window a new persp window under panels>perspective>NEW

select your high res model and isolate just that one in one of the viewports and lo res for the other.
to isolate go to show>isolate select>....

that basically what you need to do to achieve that.

What do I need to connect in the connection editor to make both perspective views rotate simutaneuosly?

Parent the second camera to the first camera. If necessary lock all transform attribute in second camera so you don't change it by mistake.

Always use the first camera to find the camera angle.

BTW: even if you use same camera in both panel, Isolate should work fine since it is not camera dependent but panel dependent.

alternatively, just set both pannels to the same camera.
