View Full Version : Bamboo Forest BG WIP. Please help

A work in progress. I want tips and help on it. I'm having a hard time clarifying on the details, and the actual concept of it(actual size is 2000x1500) And after a while, it looks a bit boring. I was thinking of adding something such as one of the shoots adorning an ornament?

The original idea was supposed to be different. I wanted a larger and more panoramic type of view? So you see ABOVE the bamboo too(like night sky and mountains) and... also have a wider view to the side... But enlarging it only made it so I used up more space on bamboo instead. How could I have gotten that down? Please help. Looking for Critique.

I really like the color scheme and the mood it portrays. as well as rough and painted feeling of the piece.
However i think your right in saying that it looks a bit uninteresting at the moment.
maybe have a look at this: http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm#focus_points

you could maybe add a character cowering at the ground with some moonlight on his/her back to provide some more contrast, or some strong lightsource and dark shapes in the background seen trough the forest ( but just in a relatively small area, not the whole image). basically anything that draws the attention of the observer.

If you wish to go in the direction of your previous idea you could just extend your image upwards - leave the lower part as it is and try to add the sky ontop...
Although even then a small focus in the forrest / ground part would still benefit the whole piece i think.
