View Full Version : Rendering - Choppy Playback
Geta-Ve 07-19-2003, 04:03 PM hey, im am really really new to maya, and have looked around for a solution, but cant seem to find one.
when i render my animation (90 frames) it finishes...er duh... anyhoo, when i go to play it, the playback is all choppy.. im wondering what is causing that and what i can do to fix it?

Are you redering the entire thing into an avi? Or are you doing seperate frames and then comping them in AFX or something?
The reason I ask is because if you render avi's out of Maya, it doesn't compress them very well (or actually, at all). If you have a 90 frame animation, you have around a 90 mb avi right?
Try just playblasting to see if everything times out the way you want it to. And then render it as single frames and comp it in another program.

GO to Window > Rendering Editor > Render Globals
Make sure your Animation Ext is "name.#.ext" (If you are in windows, if you are not then ask around)
Image Format: Your choice
Start Frame (From where you want)
End Frame (To where you want)
By Frame 1
And make sure you Set Project... can't emphasize that enough.

thanks guys, unfortunatly i had suspected that i would have to render then take into another app...
