Hey there everyone, I'm relatively new here at CGTalk.

Edited as to be accurate in the present day: I'm 20, recently married. Working a tech support job while trying at home to improve in my artwork. Most of the posts immediately following consist of a small art dump from the past few years, with much more recent ones following thereafter to the present day. It is my hope that we see some improvement, and that one day I uh...well, you know, don't need my tech support job.

Criticisms, paintovers, anything is greatly appreciated.

Thanks and cheers for your time.

Hey man. It is a really good stuff! Good job. I liked Butch a lot :). Though, I would suggest adding more details in your illustrations. You know, when there are many greatly composed details on picture it becomes very spectacular, the more you look at it, the more complex and intersting it looks. Anyway, keep up the good job!

Thanks man. I'm actually a huge fan of detail, and that's one reason I've been straying from it lately. I'm really making an effort to improve in as many areas as possible, and I try and do that by stepping out of my comfort zone every time I learn something from it that really helps. Over these past few months, first, it was basic formations and such with landscapes. Then it was trying some atmospheric depth, and then I stopped and moved on to some anatomy/lighting attempts, and then I recently moved on to plants/foliage within an environment.

Here's the most recent piece.

I think next I'm going to try and work on texture. Right now I'm relying too much on seperate brushes singularly for that purpose, and it makes areas look noisy without a whole lot of thought.

Thanks for your time.

Wow, your work keeps getting better and better. You definitely have the drawing skills and your improving quickly with painting. If you want to work on painting textures something you can do for practice is to find a bunch of interesting surfaces on-line and draw them out. This is so that in the future when you're working on something you can recall a texture or pattern out of memory and it will give more variety to your work.

BTW, thanks for the imput on my WIP thread.

Just to get it on record, I didn't die or give up. I changed jobs around, was involved in an independant game project for awhile (which I needed to resign from for personal reasons), got married, etc.

Here are some pieces I've worked on over the past few months. In order from oldest to as new as today. Tried some new things in each one.

Thanks a lot fellas, wow, you know I think that's the first time I've ever been compared even remotely to a professional artist of any sort. It's always seemed so far away up to this point. Cheers to you both.

After that last painting, I just couldn't leave it as it was. The face, hair, needed some serious work. It still didn't turn out perfect, but that will have to come in another painting, if there is such a thing.

Finished piece:

Been trying lately to work a little bit more on clothes and hair, hair especially. Here's three quick runs, one turned out as a dud. Second, trying to make the dud useful as a model for some hair. The third, a more precise hair test.

The last one turned out pretty well. I look forward to utilizing what I'd learned in future paintings here soon.

Hey, it's been a while since I've seen your sketchbook. Nice stuff, with a little polish these could turn into really nice pieces.
