View Full Version : Head texturing problem 3dsmax4
zaidoigres 07-19-2003, 04:19 AM Hi, I have a problem with this head: I've made a texture for the whole head but i want the mouth to have a different texture on it, and... I don't know how to do it correctly. I've tried textporter (wich is very good) to make the textures, but i can't get the mapping right!
Also tried with composites, masks, etc.
All I want is a smooth transition between the Head's texture and mouth's texture. If anybody knows how to achieve this and wants to help me i'll be eternally grateful.
I'm using 3dsMAX 4.
If i've missed any detail please let me know. Thank U, thank U.:D
And sorry for my english... I'm from Argentina.
Bye.

Why didn't you just map them within the same UV map?
Hmmm... I can't quite remember how multi-layered textures work in Max, but there should be some way to blend them using images that act as alpha channels between different surfaces.
If I were you though, I would just unwrap the head and the inside of the mouth together.

Thanks Leigh! I'll try alpha channels.:)

Mapping Channels and a Composite material.
I just went through the motions to make sure I could do it with the benefit of an alpha channel for nice blending. Works dandy, but I'm not sure if I can explain it.
Jeez.
I'll see what I can do to clarify, but don't hold your breath.

Thank you very much for your help, the composite maps and masks worked very well. I've finished with a multi sub-object material with a composite map in the diffuse channel, and a mask in the second map (whithin the compo map), and voilá!
Again, thank you very much, and i'll post the pig when i got it finished. Hasta luego.:wavey:
