View Full Version : Still life's - Spheres
Chapt0r 07-18-2003, 11:40 PM These are some older pieces of mine, but they were done in tribute, and or attempt to re-create some of the work that neil blevins did with Brazil ( white orbs (http://www.neilblevins.com/artgallery/gallery.pl?image=white_orbs) ) It was for a lighting class - for the orange piece, I used indirect illumination to light the scene with a very very low sky light to bring out the background. Also thanks to neils "undersampling" tutorial, I cut some renders down from 22hrs to a few. hah! Thanks Neil

If you had read his post you will know what the point is.
Having gotten that out of the way. I can understand that you would do this test to understand how to use inderect illumination, but for a lighting class? The same (simular) results could have been obtained using about 8 lights and the rendering time would have been greatly redused, you might have learned more to. But as far as commenting on the lighting you have currently goes, I would have to say that the burned out areas of orange make me wonder where the light is coming from (since the balls don't appear to be luminous and conventional wisdome tells us that radiosity can't be that strong.) It is a nice effect though.
