View Full Version : .XSI to .OBJ
I'm looking for a .XSI to .OBJ converter.
Does anyone know if it's possible to import my XSI model to Maya 2009 ?

If your running xsi file-> export-> Obj file, just make sure ya select your model. Other then that its just a matter of importing the obj through maya's means of import. Thats if you just want to import the Obj file, as for importing a complete ".xsi" I'm not to sure that avaliable "YET" autodesk may or may-not.
Maya 2008 doesn't have an import .xsi option.
I beleive Collada made a pluging that allows maya to xsi and xsi to maya, but that was awhile ago and a few versions back not to sure if it ever went anywhere.
hope this helps,

have a look at crosswalk too. it can do more than just move over the model.

The problem is that I'm running Maya 2009 on Mac OS X and I donno how to import a softimage model on it. And I don't have Softimage. Is it possible to convert XSI to OBJ using Maya 2009... A plug in.

Yes (sort of) but the plugin you need is crosswalk and as far as I know there is now public version of it for the Mac.
Your best bet is to find someone with a PC version of Maya, download crosswalk, and use that to open the .xsi file in Maya. Then save it as an OBJ or what ever works best for you.

AFAIK there is a MAC Maya version. While not quite the same as crosswalk or as powerful for transferring character specific attributes, it has a few extra benefits over it, including the fact that it works with a greater amount of programs.
