The effect I'm animating is a rotating turret with recoil. When the turret fires, its barrel, which is controlled by the child bone bellow, needs to slide back in the X axis. I can't do this, however, because the parent bone has constrained the child's position.

What can I do in Max to un-constrain the child bone, yet still have it inherit the parent's position and rotation? The barrel should rotate and move with the turret's base, but it should also be able to slide back.
-Thanks.
