View Full Version : Approximation editor 2009 bug?

I was using 2008 up until a few days ago. I use the approx editor to render out smoothly in mental ray.

I have a low poly character that rendered fine in 2008 using the 2008 approx editor. But now in 2009 the characters eyes are the only thing that renders. The character does render in 2009 without an approx. node but not with an approx node.

So my question is why would this mesh render in 2008 mental ray's approx node and not with the 2009? What has changed in the 2009 approx editor?

Other characters render fine in booth 2008 and 2009 using this method so it obviously has something to do with the mesh too. But also they changes something obviously too for to work in 2008 and not 2009.

Hi,
Don't know if this could help but try deleting the approximation and apply new approximation nodes in 2009.Sometimes certain updates in versions could change your settings.

Check your script editor too to see if there are any errors that are popping up. In addition to deleting any approx nodes and reassigning, if you have any textures assigned to the mesh, make a new shader for it (obviously plug in any texture maps) but at times I've noticed changing versions sometimes messes with some shaders. You could always test with applying a basic blin and see if that helps.
